  • 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Pastel food coloring (pink, yellow, blue, purple, or green)

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pastel food coloring (optional, to match the cake swirls)

For Decorating:

  • Easter sprinkles
  • Mini chocolate eggs or pastel M&M’s
  • White chocolate drizzle (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake Batter

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare white cake mix according to package instructions, adding vanilla extract for extra flavor.

2. Divide & Color the Batter

  1. Divide the batter into 3-4 separate bowls.
  2. Tint each with a different pastel food coloring (pink, yellow, blue, purple, etc.).

3. Create the Swirled Effect

  1. Spoon different colored batters randomly into the baking pan.
  2. Use a toothpick or skewer to swirl the colors together gently (don’t overmix).

4. Bake the Cake

  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes (or according to package instructions).
  2. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean.
  3. Let cool completely before frosting.

5. Make the Frosting

  1. Beat butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until smooth.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract and heavy cream, whipping until light and fluffy.
  4. (Optional) Divide and tint the frosting to match the cake colors.

6. Frost & Decorate the Cake

  1. Spread frosting evenly over the cooled cake.
  2. Decorate with Easter sprinkles, mini chocolate eggs, or a white chocolate drizzle.
