Ingredients
Dry Ingredients:
1½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
1½ teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients:
⅓ cup whole milk
¼ cup plain yogurt or sour cream
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup finely chopped fresh strawberries or strawberry puree
Optional Strawberry Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons pureed strawberries
1–2 tablespoons milk, as needed for consistency
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut hole pan or mini muffin tin. If using a donut hole maker, preheat according to instructions.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together milk, yogurt, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Stir in chopped strawberries or puree.
Gently fold wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
Fill each donut hole cavity about ¾ full with batter.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. (Or cook in a donut hole maker for 4–6 minutes.)
Let cool on a rack. Mix glaze ingredients and dip or drizzle over warm or cooled donut holes.
Notes
Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor.
Pat berries dry before chopping to avoid adding extra moisture.
For a pink glaze, add more strawberry puree or a drop of natural food coloring.
