Refreshing and Juicy Watermelon Peach Salad for Hot Summer Days

Description

This watermelon peach salad is fresh, colorful, and bursting with summer flavor. Easy, healthy, and perfect for warm days!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed seedless watermelon

  • 3 ripe peaches, sliced thin

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese

  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves, torn

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fruit
Begin by cubing the watermelon into bite-sized pieces and slicing the peaches into thin wedges. Be gentle with the peaches to avoid bruising, especially if they’re very ripe. Place both fruits into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Add the Cheese and Basil
Crumble the feta cheese over the fruit and add the torn basil leaves. Use fresh basil here—dried won’t give you the same fragrant finish. The basil will release its aroma as it’s torn, adding layers of flavor.

Step 3: Make the Dressing
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil and lime juice. You can also add a touch of honey if you prefer a sweeter finish, though it’s not necessary. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Assemble the Salad
Pour the dressing over the fruit and gently toss to combine. Be careful not to stir too vigorously, as the watermelon can release a lot of liquid and make the salad watery.

Step 5: Chill and Serve
Refrigerate the salad for 10–15 minutes before serving if desired. This helps the flavors meld and keeps the dish cool. Serve in a wide, shallow bowl for the best visual impact.

Notes

For maximum visual impact, serve this salad in a wide, shallow bowl or a large white platter. The contrast between the pink watermelon, golden peaches, white feta, and green basil is absolutely stunning. You can even serve it layered in a clear trifle bowl or individual glass cups for a more elegant presentation.

Pair it with grilled chicken skewers, cold pasta salads, or fresh sandwiches for a complete meal. As a starter, it complements chilled soups or grain-based salads beautifully. For dessert, it transitions effortlessly to the sweet side of the menu—just omit the feta and serve with a scoop of sorbet or a drizzle of honey.
