Easy and Fun Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallows Recipe

  • Author: Elisa
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 marshmallow figures
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallows are a no-bake, kid-friendly treat inspired by the iconic Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. With large marshmallows, smooth white chocolate, candy eyes, and a quick smile drawn with a black edible marker, you’ll have adorable, nostalgic snacks perfect for Halloween parties, movie nights, or themed birthdays—ready in about 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Large marshmallows – the base of your Stay Puft character
  • White chocolate – for coating and “gluing” the stack
  • Vegetable shortening – thins the chocolate for a smooth coat
  • Powdered sugar – optional dusted, frosty finish
  • Black edible marker – draw the smile/face
  • Candy eyes – bring your character to life

Optional: Small fondant hats or blue icing accents for extra detail.

Instructions

  1. Prep Surface: Line your workspace with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Melt Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, heat white chocolate with a little shortening in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth.
  3. Stack Marshmallows: Dip the bottom of one marshmallow in melted chocolate and set on the parchment. Use chocolate to “glue” a second on top, then a third, forming a 3-tier stack.
  4. Coat: Spoon or brush melted chocolate over the stack to cover evenly.
  5. Add Eyes: While the coating is still wet, press two candy eyes onto the top marshmallow.
  6. Dust (Optional): Lightly sprinkle with powdered sugar for a snowy finish.
  7. Set: Let stand 15–20 minutes until the chocolate hardens (or refrigerate ~10 minutes to speed up).
  8. Face: Use a black edible marker to draw a friendly Stay Puft smile. Serve or package for gifting.

Notes

  • Use fresh marshmallows: Older ones can be stiff and hard to stack.
  • Shorten drying time: Pop in the fridge for ~10 minutes after decorating.
  • Make ahead: Store at room temp in an airtight container up to 3 days; avoid the fridge.
  • Keep tools dry: Water can cause melted chocolate to seize.
  • Attach eyes quickly: Press them on before the coating sets.
