These baked ham and cheese croissants are melty, savory, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dinner. Quick, easy, and delicious!
Ingredients
6 large croissants (preferably day-old or bakery-style)
6–8 slices of deli ham (thinly sliced) or leftover baked ham
6–8 slices of cheese (Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or gruyère)
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (optional, but highly recommended)
2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional for sweetness)
2 tablespoons melted butter (for brushing)
1 teaspoon dried thyme or poppy seeds (optional garnish)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Slice the croissants in half horizontally without cutting all the way through—this will help keep the filling inside while baking.
Spread mustard and/or honey (if using) on the bottom half of each croissant. This adds flavor contrast and moisture.
Layer the ham and cheese evenly into each croissant. Use one or two slices of each, depending on the size of your croissants.
Close the croissants gently and place them onto the prepared baking sheet. If desired, brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with thyme or poppy seeds.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the croissants are golden brown. Keep an eye on them toward the end to prevent over-browning.
Serve warm, either whole or sliced diagonally for a fancier presentation.
