Serve on toasted buns, wraps, or even chapati!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Sloppy Joes:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 preferred)

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • ½ cup dill pickles, chopped

  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

  • 1 tablespoon ketchup

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Burger buns or rolls, for serving

  • Optional: shredded lettuce, sesame seeds (for garnish)

For the Secret Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tablespoons French dressing

  • 1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish

  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together all secret sauce ingredients. Chill until ready to use.

  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned and soft. Drain excess fat.

  • Stir in chopped pickles, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Reduce heat, stir in cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.

  • Add half the prepared secret sauce to the skillet and mix well.

  • Toast buns if desired. Spoon beef mixture onto bottom halves, top with lettuce, drizzle with extra sauce, and finish with sesame seeds.

  • Serve immediately with favorite sides.

Notes

Use real mayo for the best secret sauce.

Sauce can be made up to 5 days in advance.

Skip cheese or substitute dairy-free if needed.

Try serving in wraps, sliders, or over rice for creative twists.
